With studios on the Craven Community College campus, Public Radio East offers listeners two distinct formats. The news and classical music format is heard on WTEB FM 89.3 and presents nearly 120 hours of classical music each week plus in-depth news weekday mornings and afternoons during National Public Radio's "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered." "The News & Ideas Network" — heard on WZNB FM 88.5 in New Bern, 90.3 FM in Goldsboro-Kinston, 91.5 FM Atlantic Beach and 88.1 FM in Greenville — offers those NPR signature programs and more, including news from the BBC, live national call-in programs "The Diane Rehm Show" and "Talk of the Nation" as well as "The Sound," a weekday evening program of roots rock, Americana and contemporary folk. During weekends on all the Public Radio East frequencies, mechanics Tom and Ray Magliozzi make "Car Talk" Saturday at 10 AM, and the evening brings "A Prairie Home Companion" at 6 PM. Sunday evenings from 6-11 PM also feature An Evening of Jazz with Tom the Jazzman. An HD transmitter broadcasts digital signal at 89.3 for better radio sound beamed to the entire listening area.
