In the Glenburnie Gardens residential area off Oaks Road, the 51-acre Glenburnie Park is located in a grove of old pine trees and considered one of New Bern's most scenic parks. Fronting the Neuse River, the park has a public boat ramp, paved parking, four picnic shelters with tables and grills, fishing piers, a playground, a disc golf course and public restrooms. Glenburnie Park and its shelters can be reserved for private events. The Down East Dog park provides two large fenced areas to park members, one for their large and the other for their small dogs to come play, free of leashes. A call to the city Parks and Recreation Department can provide details for membership.
